Our Calabrian gnocchi basket ('u crivu' in Calabrian dialect) is used for making the ridges in your potato gnocchi to give them that authentic look and texture.

This circular wicker basket (measuring 25cm in diameter) has been hand made by artisans in Calabria, Southern Italy. The art of making these intricate baskets is gradually dying out as very few craftsmen and women with the skills to maintain this tradition are left. There are sadly just two places left in Calabria where these original gnocchi baskets are made: Soriano Calabro in the Serre Mountains and Belmonte, a little town on the Tyrrhenian coast.
